Over the last three years, since the contingency created by the oil industry strike, we have been relying on the GOCAD geostatistical tool to conduct the reservoir characterization studies in the
XXXX
field, achieving excellent results that have been reflected in a positive response in the production of the horizontal wells that were drilled from 2003 to 2006.
In the latest studies conducted in the
XXXX
field, GOCAD was the integration tool for the geophysical, petrophysical, sedimentological and stratigraphic data, which made it possible to generate 3D statistical models that have been used to undertake the dynamic simulation studies on the
XXXX
field reservoirs. Based on these studies, the horizontal part of the wells that were drilled was increased from 1500 feet to 4500 feet, which increased the production potential from an average of 700 bppd (1500') to 1500 bppd (4500'), respectively. This represents a 142% increase. A preliminary feasibility study was also conducted for a SAGD pilot test intended to increase the recovery factor of the reservoirs in the Eastern area of the
XXXX
field.

"The use of GOCAD's geophysical module in a new workflow for seismic depth calibration in the Gulf of Mexico has resulted in significantly improved depth prediction of target horizons. This increased accuracy has direclty impacted our drilling decisions, resulting in overall savings."
