Upgridding is made easy using the flow unit analysis panel, which helps to interactively lump grid layers that are more likely to have the same dynamic behavior. The second step uses the New Grid for Upscaling command where new areal resolution is specified. This last command also allows creating tartan gridding on an existing grid
A workflow leads users through all the required parameters, making static and dynamic property upscaling process straightforward. A summary of all the parameters used is provided and can be easily copied to an external document.
LGR and Upscaler
The intuitive Local Grid Refinement (LGR) and Upscaler Workflow guides you through:
- Grid coarsening (upgridding) and property upscaling
- Grid refining (downgridding) and property downscaling
- LGR construction, visualization, and export to commercial flow simulators
This workflow provides the systematic approach necessary for novice users, while preserving the flexibility desired by expert users for complex geologic models. Blocks of cells to be refined or coarsened are automatically identified using key features of the model, such as faults, wells, and fluid contacts. Every step of the LGR and UpscalerWorkflow provides volumetric comparison, grid quality assessment, and built-in HTML reporting, which includes your comments, parameters, comparison tables, and 3D Viewer snapshots.
